An Associate in BMO Capital Markets Loan Products Group will be part of a dynamic corporate lending environment which will include client management, underwriting new client opportunities, ongoing risk analysis and teamwork/partnership. As part of client management, an Associate will be a member of a relationship management team and have direct account responsibility for a diverse portfolio of private and public middle market companies with sales between $50MM to $1BB. The Associate will be charged with bringing new ideas to the client by pitching ancillary investment, corporate banking and related products including cash management, interest rate hedging, foreign exchange, and private banking.
The Loan Products Group is looking for an Associate in support of the Business Services sector. The Business Service Sector is focused on coverage in a broad range of service industries such as education firms, consulting firms, and outsourced providers. Associates will have a key role in structuring and underwriting new client opportunities, performing financial modeling and analysis, due diligence which will include on-site visits which may include traveling, analysis of a business model and comprehensive review of industry trends and regulatory nuisances. Associates will also be responsible for risk analysis and monitoring a clients ongoing financial condition with an independent proactive approach.
This individual will be a key player in deal teams generating client solutions and leveraging expertise in the following roles:
Collaborates with coverage relationship partner to generate ideas, identify client solutions, pursue sectoral marketing efforts, cover clients and deliver solutions;
Key member of deal team leads prepares lending proposals/pitches to prospective clients;
Provide deal structuring knowledge;
Maintain ongoing coverage and contact with lending clients;
Cross sell capabilities and products to up-tier position with client;
Prepares/oversees preparation of concise, well reasoned credit correspondence;
Oversees documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance;
Actively manages portfolio to maximize return and credit quality;
Works with specialists as needed to support successful syndication and sales.
Knowledge & Skills:
A minimum of two years of corporate banking with Business Services sector experience preferred
A degree in finance, economics, or accounting (MBA preferred)
Outstanding academic achievement and peer recognition
Demonstrated quantitative analytic skills
Highly developed written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of capital markets and investment banking products
Expertise in financial and computer applications
Understanding/experience with credit analysis
Strong interpersonal skills utilized within a team environment and in client interaction.
