Vice President - Accounting
Location: NYC
Compensation: $160K++
Bonus – 50% of compensation +++
Rapidly growing billion $$$ consumer products company in NYC has an opening for a VP of Accounting to report to the SVP & Controller, Chief Accounting Officer. In this highly visible position you will be managing the Accounting Department including all accounting related areas. You will also be very involved with Revenue accounting determinations as well as identifying process and system improvements and/or enhancements. This position will have primary responsibility for all Sarbanes-Oxley compliance (working closely with our Internal Audit group) and any and all tasks associated with financial statement preparation. We are seeking someone who has extensive experience in all transactional and operational areas.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Ø Determine appropriate US GAAP accounting treatment for all company contracts, business development initiatives and normal course of business initiatives (ie: promotions, rebates) in relation to accounting required for proper financial statement preparation.
Ø Sarbanes-Oxley compliance including developing, establishing, implementing and maintaining requisite controls and procedures to support the financial system and operational processes.
Ø Schedule and assure timely completion of Monthly, Quarterly, and Year End Financial Closing.
Ø Ensure that account activity and balances are audited for accuracy/reasonableness and reconciled regularly.
Ø Develop and implement procedures for streamlining the accrual process including support needed to properly complete a review and audit.
Ø Primary liaison with Internal and External Auditors.
Ø Interact with other various levels of management on significant matters often requiring coordination between various organizations.
Ø Management of all aspects of the General Ledger.
Ø Supervision and training of the General Accounting Group.
Ø Oversee the Fixed Asset Group, Payroll Department and accounting for Inventory.
Ø Primary lead in the setup, implementation and maintenance of the accounting for the Direct-to-consumer business.
Ø Primary lead in the setup, implementation and maintenance of the accounting for the Warranty business.
Ø Assists with the creation of new policies and procedures as required.
Ø Works with Canadian division on all intercompany transactions.
Ø Review and make improvements to internal processes.
Ø Complete other special analyses and project assignments as directed.
Experience Required:
Ø Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Ø 10+ years of experience in corporate accounting for a consumer products company.
Ø 3+ years experience managing various accounting departments and staff.
Ø Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Ø Experience working with auditors.
