Job Description - Senior Risk Analyst


Department Overview

Company's Risk Management team is engaged in a variety of tasks in areas of risk analysis and controls. Responsibilities of this group include implementation of robust processes to perform high quality risk reporting and incident-free execution of risk controls processes. These responsibilities require extensive use of advanced quantitative risk and valuation models and insightful explanation of the models results.

Position Summary

Company is looking for an analytically exceptional Senior Risk Analyst, who is interested in Risk Management with focus in Energy. The Senior Risk Analyst is a senior level individual contributor position within Risk Control Team. This position is expected to proactively contribute in the areas of risk analysis and reporting, which will require deep understanding of market risk and credit risk models, analytical ability to review, validate and explain model results, and appropriate programming and database understanding to work with the existing risk management systems. Being a good thinker in critical for success in this position.

Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze company's procurement risk through the computation of portfolio time-to-expiration Value-at-Risk and Liquidity at Risk, including updating and monitoring and analyzing of all associated position changes and market data. Compute risk metrics using risk-approved models such as value-at-risk, mark-to-market, forward curves, volatilities and correlations. Analyze results, check for reasonableness, make changes as needed and provide meaningful insight.
Monitor company's transaction limits and risks through validation of vanilla as well as complex power and gas physical positions, vanilla and exotic financial instruments. Ensure appropriate representation in deal capture, valuation and risk systems. Check for reasonableness and provide meaningful insight.
Monitor company's credit limits and risk through the validation and computation of counterparty credit exposure and available credit thresholds. Generate credit reports that effectively communicate available credit. Monitor, analyze, explain and report on collateral and margin posting requirements.
Support and improve existing risk infrastructure through configuration and maintenance of risk management information systems. Work with Risk Management Systems team to design, develop, and implement effective processes and systems for risk measuring, monitoring and reporting functions. Develop and implement test plans and ensure robust testing strategy to adequately test all relevant applications. Design, develop and document mid-office control processes and procedures to ensure front office's compliance with risk policies and limits.


Qualifications

Required
Degree in Engineering, Computational Finance, Physics, Econometrics, Mathematics or other quantitative discipline.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a risk analyst or a related role.
Demonstrated knowledge of energy risk management, energy derivatives and Greeks
Desired
energy industry experience.
Strong multi-tasking and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
